Olofmeister is a renowned Counter-Strike player whose beginnings date back to 2010 and whose career has been linked mainly to Fnatic and FaZe Clan. With the former, he managed to win two Majors in 2015 and has reached the final rounds of several over the past few years. Here we will see a little about his life, professional career, and the video settings he uses.
But First, Who Is Olofmeister?
As mentioned above, Olof Kajbjer Gustafsson – A.K.A Olofmeister – is a Swedish professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player representing the world-famous FaZe Clan. However, he has also played for H2k, Absolute Legends, LGB eSports, Fnatic, and FaZe Clan. We will see its performance in these teams later.
Gustafsson has won many tournaments, including two CSGO Majors, ESL One Katowice 2015 and ESL One Cologne 2015. For this reason, he is considered one of the best CS: GO players in history. So now, let’s get to know him a little more.
Gustafsson was raised in Tyresö, Sweden with two siblings. At a young age – 4 years old – he became interested in soccer and planned to pursue a pro career until a knee injury changed his plans. Ironically, it led to another professional career, as it allowed him to focus on Counter Strike.
Olofmeister: A Successful Career
The Counter-Strike scene has provided great names for esports history. This is the case of Olof ‘Olofmeister’ Kajbjer, one of the most important Swedish players. We look back at a player’s career who has come to be named the best in the world.
Olofmeister’s career began in 2010 in Counter-Strike, although the successes of his sporting journey would come later in CS: GO, especially after his signing with Fnatic in 2014. While playing for the veteran European organization, he lifted several titles at the highest level, including two majors at ESL One in Katowice and Cologne in 2015, a year in which he was named the best player in the world.
Olofmeister’s arrival at FaZe Clan in 2017 was a stir in the community, being one of the star signings of the Fnatic team. He has conquered other high-level tournaments with the North American organization, such as ESL One New York 2017 or the ELEAGUE Premier 2017, although some of Valve’s most prominent majors have eluded him.
At 30 years of age and a decade as a professional, Olofmeister announces that he is moving to reserve for a brand that has made a name for itself in the competitive Counter-Strike scene, with other well-known and veteran players such as Brazilian Marcelo ‘Coldzera’ David.
Olofmeister’s last participation in the professional circuit was in the ESL One: Road to Rio European Regional, where FaZe was relegated to third place after losing to Astralis and G2. As a result, the baton has been taken over by the Danish player Markus Kjaerbye, although we will have to wait to judge how FaZe fits Olofmeister’s absence. So far, the best result has come at the Intel Extreme Masters XV – New York Online: Europe, where FaZe has taken the gold.
Absolute Legends
Gustafsson started his career in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in Absolute Legends and H2k. Olofmeister’s most significant success was in 2014 at the ESL One Katowice Major, where they came 3rd-4th after losing 1:2 against Virtus Pro.
Here, Olofmeister joined forces with Andreas “schneider” Lindberg, Markus “pronax” Wallsten, Dennis “dennis” Edman, and Alexander “rdl” Redl. However, after the teams broke up in 2013, Andreas “Schneider” Lindberg and Markus “pronax” Wallsten ended up joining Fnatic, a team Gustafsson later joined in 2014, then replacing Andreas “Schneider” Lindberg.LGB eSports
He was recruited by LGB eSports in June 2013. It was there that he started to stand out as a player. On this team, Olofmeister shared gameplay with his former Fnatic teammates Dennis “Dennis” Edman and Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, as well as Simon “twist” Eliasson and Isak “cype” Rydman.
Fnatic
2014
Olofmeister had immediate success at Fnatic – a team he joined in June after leaving LGB – helping his team take second place at the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major Championship.
In a match played against Team Dignitas on the Overpass map, he gained attention by defusing the bomb milliseconds before a Molotov could kill him, securing the match point. Months passed, and the success continued becoming the favorite to make it to DreamHack Winter 2014.
After finishing second in his group, Fnatic competed against rival Team LDLC in the quarterfinals. During this match, Olofmeister generated controversy when his teammates boosted him in an illegal position that allowed his team to come back from a massive nine-round deficit to beat his rivals. However, the tournament organizer decided to replay the entire map due to a complaint filed by LDLC. That led to Fnatic forfeiting the game and leaving the tournament.
However, that curious incident became famous in the CS: GO community, where Olofmeister and the Overpass map were nicknamed “Boostmeister” and “Olofpass” respectively. After the event, Olofmeister considered leaving Fnatic and the game but stayed after a successful run at the ESEA Invite.+ Season 17 Global Finals.

FaZe Clan
After three years at Fnatic, in August 2017, Gustafsson took his talents to the world-famous FaZe Clan. However, as soon as he joined the team, Olofmeister temporarily left the team for personal reasons. After nine months of absence, on May 25, 2018, FaZe announced Gustafsson’s return to the team, but soon after, he claimed that he still wasn’t ready to suit up and play.
Since then, Gustafsson returned to competitive play nearly a year later, again stepping away from competitive play on several occasions. Since joining FaZe Clan, he has won several events, including ESL One: New York 2017, Epicenter 2018, and Blast Pro Series Copenhagen 2019, although he’s yet to win a major tournament with his new team. He reached the grand finale of ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 but couldn’t get past Cloud9 in the final.
Olofmeister Takes A Break
In 2016, a wrist injury forced him to miss part of the season, and he has gone on injured reserve at FaZe as many as twice for personal reasons. This is not the first time Olofmeister has been away from the gaming arena. In 2020, Swedish player Olofmeister announced that he would take a break for a while to try to regain the motivation he had lost.
Swedish Olof ‘Olofmeister’ Kajbjer Gustafsson, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player for FaZe Clan, announced through a message posted on his personal Twitter account his decision to take a break from the competitive Valve shooter.
“Lately, I have been feeling more and more tired, and I think I have been losing the motivation I owe to myself, my teammates, and the FaZe brand,” he explained in that message, which appeared printed over an image of him. Despite this, he stressed that he still loves the game and his competitive scene but needs to regain his motivation.
“I’m going to take some time off to recover and think about my future,” He explained before thanking his fans and FaZe for their support. “We’ll meet again,” he closed his statement.
It is not the first time he has been inactive in his team, as during his time in Fnatic, he had to rest for a while due to a wrist injury, and with FaZe; he also sat for a while for personal reasons, although in both cases he ended up returning to the starting quintet.
